It's autumn and I rushed to catch the sun as it was setting. I just caught this reflection on the water through the trees which was momentary and then gone. After editing and converting my photo into a digital painting I felt I had arrived at the most expressive combination. I just love the mysterious shadows and the explosion of sunlight through the trees and then repeated in the reflections on the water.
About Liz Evensen
Creating art is a joy for me and leaves me with a tremendous sense of fulfillment. Just the smell of oil paint evokes in me an overwhelming desire to pick up a brush. Many artists will say they lose all awareness of time once they start painting. Only until their body tells them it's time to quit, do they finally concede. I'm no different. Often, I find myself going to bed as the morning light dawns. Producing a work of art is an adventure. I have an idea where I'm headed, but it's never exactly the same as what I have pictured in my mind. Painting is a journey of learning and discovery just waiting for the outcome to be revealed. Who doesn't love to get to the last page of a novel or the final scene in a movie to find out how...

Thank you both for your comments. I wish fall hadn't gone so quickly....all our leaves are gone now, but I await the beauty of winter and will be excited to see how this scene will look in snow and ice with the light coming through the trees.
